The Athletics Program
An important part of the education at TCIS has been the participation of students in the interscholastic athletic program. The “Dragons” have a proud tradition of athletic competition. This tradition is based on the dedication of athletes, teaching and motivational abilities of coaches, the support and cooperation of teachers and parents, the financial support of the school board, and the knowledge that God has given us physical gifts and talents to develop. It is the school’s goal that through these opportunities our students will learn life skills such as team work, leadership, sportsmanship, physical fitness, and critical, ethical and collaborative thinking.
| Dear Community,
This year the Korea-American Interscholastic Activities Conference (KAIAC) celebrates its 40th year serving the International and US DoDDs schools in Korea. In 1972 four schools, Seoul Foreign School, Pusan American High School, Seoul American High School, and the Korea Christian Academy (Taejon Christian Int'l School) decided to formally come together to form an athletics conference offering flag football, basketball, tennis, soccer and cheerleading. Now, 40 years later the conference has expanded to include 16 schools, offering not only athletics, but also fine arts and forensics expanding on its mission to accomodate the needs of our students.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary, each KAIAC school has been asked to create an all-decade team that represents the top 5 girl and top 5 boy athletes from their school. These students will be formally recognized by KAIAC on March 13th at the 40th Anniversary Celebration at Seoul Foreign School. TCIS has also decided to select a 'second' team, as an internal award to recognize our students from the past 10 years.
The compiled all-decade team was created with input from past Athletic Directors specifically Mr. Jim Armentrout, Mr. David Suhs, and Mr. Paul Rader, however input was sought from the headmaster, and past coaches.
Special Congratulations to the 40th Anniverary All-Decade First and Second Team:
