The Counseling Office
Our purpose is to serve the community and to help students achieve success. We help students explore and process career and postsecondary options. We have information about AP testing, PSAT/SAT, and other college entrance exams. We help students that are struggling in classes, have poor organizational skills, or need to be referred to a tutor. We provide confidential consultation for students, parents and staff involving personal or cultural issues.

TCIS School Counseling Department Philosophy
The Members of the counseling department team at Taejon Christian International School Believe:
* That as children created in the image of God, all students have dignity and worth.
* That all students have the right to participate in the school counseling program.
* All students’ ethnicity, cultural background, race, religion, language ability, learning style and special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program.
* That all students, Pre-K through 12, have the right to have access to a Master’s Degree level counselor to deliver the counseling program.
And that the comprehensive counseling program at Taejon Christian International School should:
* Be based on specified goals and developmental student competency standards for all students Pre-K through 12.
* Support the school’s academic goals and incorporate a Christian worldview.
* Be planned and coordinated by a school counseling team which may include a Pre-K-7 School Counselor, 8-10 School Counselor, 11 & 12 School Counselor, Dormitory Counselor and Parent & Community Liaison in coordination with a Testing Coordinator, and other school, parent/guardians and community representatives.
* Utilize community resources to deliver the program.
* Use data to steer program development and evaluation.
* Be evaluated by the counseling department team facilitated by the department head(s) on specified goals and agreed upon student competency standards.
And that counseling department team members at Taejon Christian International School:
* Abide by the professional school counseling code of ethics as stated by the American School Counselors Association and at the high school division level, demonstrate the Counselor Competencies as recommended by the National Association of College Admission Counselors.
* Participate in professional development activities essential to maintaining a quality school counseling program.
School Counseling Program Mission Statement
* The mission of the Taejon Christian International School counseling program is to provide a comprehensive counseling program which addresses the developmental academic, social, personal, spiritual, career and post-secondary planning needs of all students through a program that fosters self-respect and self-worth, as well as respect and esteem for others.
* The goal of the TCIS school counseling team is to serve as advocates who provide support to maximize each student’s unique gifts, potential and academic achievement.
* In partnership with students, parents, other professional educators and the community, the TCIS school counseling team facilitates the support system to ensure all students at TCIS are prepared with knowledge and skills that will give them the best opportunity for development towards maturity.
* The TCIS school counseling program mission is based on basic Christian beliefs.
