TCIS Hosts 2012 APAC Boys Soccer April 18-22
Six schools from Four Countries Gather in Daejeon, South Korea
Taejon Christian International School (TCIS) of South Korea is proud to host the APAC (Asia-Pacific Activities Conference) Boys Soccer Tournament April 18-22. A group of 100 players and coaches from Hong Kong International School (HKIS), the American School of Guangzhou, Concordia International School of Shanghai, Brent International School of Manila and United Nations International School of Hanoi.
The tournament got off to an exuberant start on a beautiful spring day at the neighboring Hannam University Stadium surrounded by blooming cherry blossoma. The entire TCIS student body, community and many parents turned up at the opening ceremony to welcome the visiting teams. The gathering was celebrated with energetic performances by the High School Band, a TCIS hip hop dance group, traditional fan dance by TCIS elementary students and the “samulnori,” the Korean farmers’ folk music/dance performance by a local group. The visiting teams are staying with TCIS families or at one of the dorms
U.S. missionaries found TCIS in 1958 in the centrally located city of Daejeon, South Korea. The school has since grown into a world IB school in Christian environment for over 500 students of diverse backgrounds. The school is in the midst of developing a brand new state-of-the art campus located in the newly developed Techno Valley area in Daejeon and is scheduled to open the 2012-2013 school year at the new location. Through continuing participation at APAC events, TCIS hopes to raise cultural and sports exchanges among youth and the promotion of Daejeon and South Korea.

And we would also like to congratulate Wong Joon CHOI (4th place) and Yonatan RABINOVITZ (5th place).
